To raise awareness about the problems in our democracy as well as discuss potential solutions, Equal Citizens and Open Democracy organized democracy town halls with presidential candidates across New Hampshire in 2020. Since all the national attention was on New Hampshire as the first-in-the-nation primary, we generated tons of media attention and got commitments from 10 presidential candidates to prioritize democracy reform if elected. Among the candidates that we hosted were Bernie Sanders, Kirsten Gillibrand, Bill Weld, Andrew Yang, and Tom Steyer.
